On social media and TV, often times people say, “I’m so OCD,” when referring to how clean and organized they are. Truthfully, this really doesn’t apply to the criteria of OCD but it is much more similar to the attributes of someone with OCPD, obsessive compulsive personality disorder. Lets talk about it!

Put a finger down if…

  • You struggle to work in groups because you end up doing most of the work
  • Sitting in staff meetings at work, you have a hard time not speaking your mind let alone it being obvious on your face that you disagree with management
  • You’re caught up on work, the chores are done, the house is clean and dinner is made… you should be relaxing but yet, you’re focused on what else can be productive before bed
  • You spend more time making lists and planning than actually completing your tasks… if you do actually get to them
  • Spending time in the stationary section of Staples sounds fun
  • You’re very frugal and proud of it
  • You find it hard to throw out items that have very little monetary value because you have a great idea how it can be repurposed
  • You have a very strong conviction of what is right and wrong. You have strong morals and can be scrupulous in your beliefs
  • Being emotionally vulnerable with others feels challenging because it often feels embarrassing or too vulnerable

Okay, so the “put a finger down” part was meant as a joke but, today we are talking about Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder and your attention to this is important.
